WhatsApp recently introduced emoji reactions to the messaging experience for users. This feature helps users quickly react directly to messages with emojis without needing to open the emoji keyboard. Now, this feature is getting an upgrade which will introduce even more stickers to reactions.
At release, the feature came with six reactions – 👍 ❤️ 😂 😮 😥🙏. According to WhatsApp Beta Info, the application is preparing to add more reactions. At the moment, this feature is available for only Beta testers. It is in a roll-out stage and will come to more users gradually.
Once available, there will be a “plus” sign beside the existing emojis indicating that more reactions can be added. Expanding this sign by tapping on it will bring out more emojis for use.
The amount of emojis to be added to the message reaction isn’t certain. But we can expect WhatsApp to stick with emojis that depict emotions for quick reactions. The entire emoji keyboard will not be available for quick reactions, just the basics.
This feature will roll out globally via an app update which will be available on the PlayStore and App Store. Once you get the update, open any chat, hold down a message and check for a plus sign beside the reaction emojis. If available, then your app has received the reaction update, if not you will need to wait for further updates.
