Editorial Standards and Publishing Principles

TechCity Media exists to make technology accessible, honest, and human. Every editorial decision we make comes back to one question: does this help our reader understand, decide, or act?

WHAT WE COVER

We cover technology as it affects real people. That means phones, apps, platforms, policy, startups, and the people building and using all of it. Our coverage spans a global audience across generations, from first-time smartphone users to longtime tech professionals. We publish news, how-to guides, reviews, analysis, and real stories.

WHO WE WRITE FOR

Our readers range from 16 to 65 and beyond. We do not write down to beginners or over the heads of general readers. Every article is written to be understood by anyone who reads it, regardless of their technical background. We target an eighth-grade reading level without sacrificing intelligence or depth.

STANDARDS BY CONTENT TYPE

News: Every news article must explain why the development matters to the reader, not just what happened. We do not republish press releases as news. All news articles include editorial context and source attribution.

Reviews: We require a minimum of five days of hands-on testing before publishing any product review. All product claims must be demonstrated or attributed. We do not accept payment for positive reviews. If a product was provided by a manufacturer or PR agency for review purposes, we disclose this in the article.

How-To guides: All instructions are tested on actual devices before publication. Step counts and interface descriptions must be accurate at the time of publishing. We update how-to guides when software or interfaces change.

Analysis: Opinion and analysis are clearly labeled as such. Analysis must be grounded in verifiable information. We do not publish speculation as fact.

Stories and profiles: We verify the identity and role of every person we feature. Quotes must be accurate and in context. When a subject requests to review their quotes before publication, we accommodate that for direct quotations only, not for the editorial framing.

WHAT WE DO NOT DO
  • We do not publish unverified statistics or claims without a named source.
  • We do not use language that condescends to readers based on age or assumed technical ability.
  • We do not present sponsored content as organic editorial without clear disclosure.
  • We do not allow advertisers or commercial partners to influence editorial decisions, topic selection, or review outcomes.
  • We do not frame different technology markets as competitors rather than parts of a connected global ecosystem.
BYLINES AND AUTHORSHIP

Every article published on TechCity Media carries a byline. Anonymous articles are not published. Author profiles include the writer’s name, role, and area of expertise. Writers are responsible for the accuracy of their published work.

UPDATES AND ACCURACY

When facts change after publication, we update the article. We note the update date and a brief description of what changed at the top of the piece. We do not silently edit published articles. For significant factual corrections, we follow our Corrections Policy.

INDEPENDENCE

TechCity Media’s editorial team operates independently of the commercial and advertising side of the business. Topic selection, coverage decisions, and editorial conclusions are not influenced by advertiser relationships or commercial partnerships.
