Twitter Notes

Twitter Notes will enable users air their views in longer “Tweets”

The blue app is working on increasing the number of words you have per tweet with the new Twitter Notes feature.

Twitter Notes is a new feature currently in beta stage and will improve the overall writing experience on the social media application. So far, Twitter has increased the number of characters that make a tweet, from 140 at inception to 280 currently. Users of the application have felt the need to air their views, but face limitations due to the number of characters per tweet.

To battle these limitations, users often create threads, which are simply a series of related tweets that follow each other. Still, threads don’t solve the writing issue of Twitter, as expanding a tweet tends to break the experience. A few days ago, Twitter announced Notes, a feature that will turn it into a mini blog.

At the moment, this feature is only available to a select number of writers who are testing it. Once the test is over, it will roll out to the global audience. You will be able to access this feature from the sidebar of Twitter’s web app

Features of Twitter Notes

  1. There will be no limit to the number of words that you can write.
  2. You will be able to add images within the piece.
  3. Referencing tweets or other websites will also be available.
  4. Once you finish composing a Twitter note, you can publish it. It will appear on your Twitter timeline.
  5. You can share a note as you would a tweet.

Verdict

Twitter Notes is a feature that a lot of people will come to cherish, and a lot of improvements will come after its global release. This might buy into Elon Musk’s freedom of speech agenda as still contemplates his buy-off. Of course, this is a critical way to look at this new feature. But, whatever it may be, we expect this feature to be available in the coming months.
