Have you ever used the emergency excuse on someone you were having a boring conversation with? You probably tried faking a call only for your phone to actually ring on your way out. Or the person nearly bored you to death and all you could do was sit there and pretend to listen.
You need not fear anymore, This Is Your Out (TIYO) is here to save the day!
Basically what the device does is give you an excuse to bail out on any conversation you find boring or an uncomfortable situation. The device is a button that’s wirelessly connected to your phone which once pressed; calls your phone giving you a valid excuse to get out of there. The founder of TIYO, Ivan Lukianchuk, wants to raise 100,000 dollars to fund the project.
Lukianchuk says his wife inspired him to create TIYO when she complained about her chatty co-worker and how much of a distraction she was. Most TIYO adverts portray TIYO as a bad date solution but the device is more useful when you are familiar with the person concerned and as such can’t be rude or tell them off.
When the button is pushed, the user receives a call on their phone. The call gives the user a script to read out loud. For instance the script could be an emergency at your child’s school and you’ll be given voice instructions on how to make the fake emergency call look real.
Lukianchuk stated that in the future, users would be allowed to upload their own MP3. So they can come up with their own situations.
The device costs 35 dollars and includes a list of 25 pre-recorded calls. More calls can be purchased at 5 dollars for 25 recorded calls. TIYO is compatible with all smart phones and feature phones and should be available to the general market by February next year if the TIYO campaign can meet its financial target of 100,000 dollars.
