#NigeriaDecides2023: PVC collection ends tomorrow. What you need to know

PVC collection is still ongoing at local government centers with the temporary voter’s card, a photocopy of national ID or driver’s license.

The Local government Areas/ward level collection of PVCs ends tomorrow Sunday 5th of February 2023. The exercise was initially scheduled to end on the 22nd of January 2023, but was extended till 29th of January after which it was extended till 5th of February 2013.

These extensions were effected in order to allow all eligible registered citizens to pick up their PVCs and INEC has warned that there will not be another extension.  INEC has saluted the patience and doggedness displayed by Nigerians in the ongoing PVC collection process and also encouraged all registered voters  who have not collected their PVCs to do so before the deadline.

PVCs can be collected at the various local government collection centers with the temporary voter’s card, a photocopy of national ID or driver’s license.

It should be noted that citizens who have engaged in double or multiple registrations will not get any PVC. A person who has relocated outside the unit of registration of his/her PVC can not vote in the new unit unless he/she has transferred his/her registration.

Those who did not transfer their registrations but went ahead to register afresh in their new locations will not get PVCs due to double registration.

A survey conducted by SBM Intelligence in Dec 2022 showed that 79%of registered voters have successfully picked up their PVCs.

According to Olusegun Agbaje, INEC resident Electoral Officer in Lagos State, 87% of PVCs in Lagos have been collected. 5,734,559 of old PVCs registered between 2011 and 2019 have been distributed leaving 835,732 yet to be collected. 899,026 of the 1.6 million newly registered voters have collected their PVCs, while 168,000 more are expected to pick up theirs.

With only a few hours to the deadline, the number of collected PVCs is expected to increase.
