How to monitor Nigeria election results on INEC iRev

The first phase of Nigeria’s 2023 general elections has recorded a massive turnout and participation of electorates who after casting their votes are actively interested in the counting and collation of the votes cast.

It’s almost like a protective instinct triggered by a sense of worth attached to the votes and the whole exercise.

On its part, INEC has employed and applied modern technology in the exercise from the BVAS to the Election Results Viewing Portal (IReV). IReV is a platform created by INEC to allow voters and other interested bodies to view and monitor the results of the elections in real time.

The portal provides real-time transmission of election results from the polling units to INEC’s central collation center.

To access the result viewing portal, you need to visit the portal’s website http://inecelectionresults.ng and you need to have an account on the portal to log in and view results. At the moment, they may be no need to open a new account as the platform has become openly accessible.

Upon visiting the website, the result will be displayed in a picture of the ECr8 form where the presiding officer of the polling unit recorded the results of the ballots counted in the unit.

The results on the IReV portal are transmitted live from the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS)

The results of each polling unit are first hand written on a form by the presiding officer. The BVAS takes the picture of the form which is then uploaded as a PDF file on IReV portal where it is viewable by and accessible to everyone from any part of the world via the Internet.
