Content publishers Netflix and Multichoice have increased subscription fees. This increment in the cost of services from both entertainment companies has got customers on the edge.
The likes of Netflix have long ago prepped customers for price increments from time to time. These increments are a result of the “value it provides,” which is the availability of more shows and movies for streaming. Netflix has promised that it’ll alert users of the price increase 30 days before their existing subscription expires.
This move is a bit funky judging from the fact that Netflix is gradually aiming at ruling out password sharing. The new policy with Netflix is one user, one password. As such, accessing Netflix services as a third party will attract a stipulated fee to the password owner’s account. Netflix’s new monthly subscription fee are as follows:
Basic plan at $9.99 (from $8.99)
Standard tier at $15.49 (from $13.99)
Premium tier at $19.99 (from $17.99).
Multichoice on the other hand has a different story to its subscription hike. The monthly subscription hike in the services offered by Multichoice (DSTV and GOtv) is a result of inflation. The company claims that the fund gathered from the hike will be used to further drive quality content across Africa.

GOtv’s monthly subscription fees are:
GOtv Max N4,150 (from N3600), GOtv Jolli N2,800 (from N2,460), GOtv Jinja N1,900 (from N1,640), GOtv Lite N900 (from N800).
All new billings on Netflix and Multichoice will go into effect on the 1st of April 2022.
