Just days after rumors of an October 17 launch party were dismissed, a new report suggests that Apple will instead hold an event to announce the iPad Mini on October 23.

This event will be invitation-only and may well be held at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium (previously used to debut the OS X Lion, MacBook Air and the iPhone 4S), according to AllThingsD, which received the information from people ‘familiar with Apple’s plans’.

Reports emerged last week that Apple was to send out press invites this week for an event on October 17 but such speculation didn’t turn out to be true. The iPad Mini is expected to have a 7.85-inch display, run iOS 6, be WiFi-only and be pitched at a price around $299 about N48,000.
