Infinix Hot X507 Review

Infinix Hot Review

The market for the low end affordable smartphone in Nigeria is getting tougher and becoming very competitive with various OEM throwing in smartphones that cost almost nothing into the mix. Such companies include Innjoo, Wiko and Infinix joining the race with the new Infinix Hot X507.

The Infinix Hot was recently at a media event in Lagos in partnership with Konga.com, the official sales partner. The executives of Infinix highlighted the various benefits of the phone and took everyone by surprise when they announced the price…..N12,900. Infinix emphasized that they are offering the device as a gift for the season and they want everyone to enjoy the season with a brand new phone. Well, the Infinix Hot will start selling on Konga today, 21-Nov-2014 on Konga.com by 9 am.

So before you make that decision of getting yourself that Hot gift, I would like let you know what your 13k could get you. First of all you should not have the imagination of getting specs like that of the S5, its just a device that gets you going with the expected basics and necessary things like instant messaging, emails, pictures, phone calls text messaging and some others that a smartphone has to offer. It has a simple design with a 5 inch screen which gives adequate real estate for your multimedia experience. Screen resolution is so low at 854×480, i wonder why this is so. Its all plastic, looks durable and after falling off my hand about three times, I just picked it up without any problem. It has a changeable back cover which you can switch for the unique type that glows at night when you are probably having a night out.

The Dual SIM Infinix Hot runs on the Android KitKat version but there is something different about the SIM tray. The Dual SIM port comes in two different sizes, a micro and Mini which means you can use both a micro SIM and a Mini SIM at the same time so whichever SIM you have, Infinix has saved you the headache of going to look for where to cut your SIM to size. There are also five different (Red, Yellow, Black, White and Green) colours so you are spoilt for choice.infinix Hot

Primary camera sits at 5 MP with a Flash while the front facing camera is pegged at 2MP. Picture quality is fair enough (except you want to become a professional photographer). See some pictures I took below:

Browsing on the phone is smooth especially when you have a good network, launching apps was smooth and easy. There is a native Konga app that comes with the phone for you to easily access the online platform. Gaming is also fair but you know that depends on the kind of game, high resolution and 3D games would disappoint on this phone but 2D games render well. I installed Candy Crush and enjoyed my time with it. The pre-installed Asphalt 7 requires additional data to complete installation but I didn’t  even bother….. All these smoothness and fair gaming capabilities achieved, thanks to the 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor.

RAM size is 1GB with a sufficient internal memory of 16GB which can be expanded up to 32GB with an SD card so you are sure to have loads of pictures as you enjoy your celebration with friends and family this xmas period.

I was not able to achieve a full day on power with the 2000mAh battery capacity at first largely due to the fact that I am a heavy phone user, I spend most a lot of time on my phone everyday but I was able to achieve a full day when I reduced my time spent on it. This doesn’t suggest that the battery is wack, even the phones with high capacity hardly last a full day on standard usage.

So after all has been said and done, this phone isn’t a killer and that is evident in the price. It is a phone that would just serve your basic phone requirement. I am considering getting one for my mum as Xmas goody once it goes on sale afterall what does my mum know about RAM or processors. erhm.. there is even a promise of a free delivery so you don’t have to give yourself the headache of trying to locate the best physical store to make your purchase.
