28 Nigerian Entrepreneurs Graduate from GE Lagos Garage Training Program

The world’s premiere Digital Industrial Company, GE, has announced the graduation of the third batch of 28 young Nigerian entrepreneurs from its Lagos Garage – a hub for advanced manufacturing-based innovation, strategy development, idea generation and collaboration.

GE is the world’s premiere Digital Industrial Company, transforming the industry with software-defined machines and solutions that are connected, responsive and productive. GE is organized around a global exchange of knowledge, the “GE Store,” through which each business shares and accesses the same technology, markets, structure, and intellect.

The new graduates who joined the program in the first week of June received four weeks of training on advanced manufacturing technology and business development. They were also opportune to directly interact with the latest manufacturing technologies, including 3D printers and laser cutters that enable innovation through rapid prototyping.

Participants were also exposed to a variety of world-class instructors and technical experts who not only provided mentorship but support in developing their business so that they learned to design and create products which will help position them as vital players in the advanced manufacturing and innovation ecosystem.

Speaking during a media tour of the Garage in Lagos, the Director, Communications & Public Affairs, GE Africa, Patricia Obozuwa described the GE Lagos Garage initiative as an initiative that is centered on building knowledge and capability which will ultimately lead to the creation of more businesses and jobs.  She also disclosed that the GE’s commitment to skill development has led to the training of 95 students till date, since the launch of the Lagos Garage in November 2016.
