YouTube adds messaging feature to its mobile app

When it comes to looking for how-to videos or trending videos, YouTube is definitely the first place most people go to. And to those people, that’s just what it is – a video sharing app. In most cases, people go to youtube only when they need a video.  Well, practically everyone is guilty of that; I am too. So the gods of video apps became angry; VERY ANGRY. They said, “Since you guys only visit when you need to watch and share videos, we are introducing a new charm that will make you glued to youtube forever.” I know you are thinking, “whatever these guys are planning, this charm won’t work on me.” We’ll see.

Youtube has added a new messaging and sharing feature to it mobile app. This feature is quite different from the existing comments and share platform.  This means you no longer need to copy links, send them via your messaging app of choice, and carry on the conversation within that app. You’ll now be able to easily share videos with friends and chat with them directly within the YouTube app.

The share menu on videos will now have a new option to send a video directly to an individual or a group of people. The share sheet will show recent people you’ve sent a video to and let you add text and emojis to the message. All messages are located in a new Shared tab in the mobile app next to profile.

Native sharing is meant to be a private messaging feature you enjoy only with friends, and not strangers on the internet.

The company hopes this new feature will encourage more sharing and commenting by its users. But native sharing in YouTube is only for a small group of users for now and is planned to roll out gradually as people use it and invite others to chat.

This is some huge charm; Youtube is not smiling at all. I am not so sure but I think this charm will work on a lot of people. Well let’s wait till we all get the feature.
