Why Should A N250,000 Phone Bend In Your Pocket?

I was in denial for a few minutes when I heard about the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus phone bend gate. Does the end of Jobs era signify the end of all the quality Apple has to offer? Was Tim Cook in so much of a hurry to churn out new Apple products that he skipped Quality Control tests? I mean even a Tecno phone wouldn’t bend in your pocket! (No offense to Tecno phone users).

The only good news is Apple claims defective devices can be covered by manufacturer’s warranty but has to pass through a “visual mechanical inspection.”

A representative at Apple announced that those who own iPhones 6 or 6 Plus and that have lost shape from everyday use can get a replacement only after it is scrutinized by Apple’s staff. This is not very reassuring as “visual mechanical inspection” sounds like professional jargon that harbors lots of loopholes for the California based company.

These iPhone models were built with aluminum which is a soft and bendable metal. There have been a few albeit rare complaints from customers about the iPhone 5 and 5s bending but the issue is more pronounced with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which could be bent out of share if one isn’t very careful.

The issue of phones bending is not particularly new or exclusive to Apple as other smartphone users have reported cases of their devices bending out of shape. Sadly, Apple has joined the group and Samsung was sure to take advantage of this in one of their adverts where the bent iPhone 6 bows down before the Samsung Note 3.

Watch the video below to see the iPhone 6 bending with bare hands.
