Uber lowers service fees for drivers in Lagos and Abuja to increase earning potential

Uber believes that this will help to ensure that drivers are able to maximize their earnings while using the Uber App.

Uber has lowered its service fee from 25% to 20% to help enable better earning opportunities for drivers using the Uber App in Abuja and Lagos.

This is one way Uber is showing its commitment to drivers. “Uber is committed to helping to facilitate unique earning opportunities for drivers through both innovation and technology. Based on local market dynamics, including the rising cost of business and living expenses, Uber has lowered its service fee across Abuja and Lagos,” says Tope Akinwumi, Country Manager for Uber Nigeria.

Uber believes that this will help to ensure that drivers are able to maximize their earnings while using the Uber App. The increase will reflect on UberX, UberX Hourly, and UberX Share.  Drivers will still have access to existing safety features such as 24/7 customer support and Share my Trip, insurance, and other safety and support features.

A report on the “State of Entrepreneurship in Nigeria 2021,” has revealed that 43 and 67 percentages of entrepreneurs in the country are women and youth respectively, who fall within the 18 – 35 years of age bracket. The report, which was produced by The Fate Institute, also called for targeted institutional support for these businesses to enhance their growth and maximize their impact on the economy.

“The intention is to provide entrepreneurs who opt to drive and deliver on the Uber platform with a sustainable earnings option,” adds Akinwumi.

Uber offers drivers on the app a flexible earning opportunity, which is a great alternative to full-time or part-time work. These drivers are able to set their own schedules and make work fit into their lives, and not the other way around.
