Are Sex Robots Taking All the Men?

We literally can’t live without our phones these days, we basically live on the net and we cannot deny that technology has brought some awesome innovations over the years that we can’t help but appreciate; I mean, who needs a grounding machine when we’ve got a blender, who writes a letter when we’ve got WhatsApp?

In recent times, we have seen the advent of ICT making communication around the world easier, there has been the discovery of A.I and machine learning that has got humans interacting with directly with robots. Gone are the days when parents gave their children basic handsets for simple communication, everybody has an android phone.

Speaking of robots, it’s cool enough that human can communicate with robots; in countries like Japan, there are hotels where human receptionist have been replaced with robots and now, we also have sex robots and they may just be replacing sex workers, girlfriends and maybe wives.

Sex robots have become a medium for which many people say they have found peace and fulfillment as issues of heartbreaks are avoided and marrying one is actually “till death do us path.”

Although sex robots may not be popular in Nigeria, sex toys are not new. To a lot of people who want to fulfill their sexual fantasies and may not feel the need for an actual person to person contact, sex toys have been a option.

In the past, women were known for their interest in sex toys as it helped them heighten their sexual pleasure although a lot of men have adopted the habit and have moved beyond regular sex toys to sex robots and even go on to marry these dolls.

A top sex robot company claims that “sex robots have saved lives; after customers have married their dolls following the end of a relationship or the death of a spouse.”

To say the issue of heartbreaks are avoided and marrying one is a forever lasting and true commitment is worth a deep think, it’s not like the robot has a choice. At this point, i can imagine a young Nigerian man of marriageable age bringing home a sex doll to his parent with the excuse that they are ‘true and loyal’.

In recent times there has been a host of different sex robots dominating Europe and Asia for men to choose from; well, one would have to see certain characteristics in person or doll in this case before making it “a lifetime partner.” These dolls go from Realistic Dolls which actually come with in-built feminine organs that feel very real according to the makers, to customized doll with pre selected make-up, skin tone, wig or clothes. With these dolls, one can also customize the feminine organs they want and many others.

According to express.co.uk, a spokesperson for RealDoll said;  “There are many reasons we have heard from our customers, ranging from the sexual aspect to a domestic partner to art pieces enjoyed simply for their beauty.”

He reportedly went on to say; “Some people develop strong connections to these dolls – they care very much for them as it is a very intimate process to pick all of the features they desire.”

“We have had customers marry their dolls say we had saved their lives because they felt like they had nothing to live for after the death of a spouse or the end of a relationship”.

I am beginning to think that if these products are introduced to Africa, considering our cultural, religious and conservative nature, they may be welcomed by very low patronage. Iyanya already made his intentions known in his recent song, Hold On, even though doctors have said, sex robots help people get over traumatic feelings.

News has it that in Japan, thousands of men are turning their backs on real women and choosing ultra-realistic sex dolls as their life partners.

More than 2,000 of the real silicone dolls – called Dutch Wives are reportedly sold each year in Japan and love affairs with the silicon sex machines are becoming increasingly acceptable.

Although, marrying sex toys have not fully been accepted by the Japanese government, there are rumours that there could be benefits to the sex robot makers if they are being marketed as potential “cure” for paedophiles and rapists.
