OnlyFans Suspends Ban on Sexually Explicit Content; Creators Remain Paranoid

Barely five days after OnlyFans announced via its upcoming policy change, a ban on sexually explicit content from its platform, the company has released a statement detailing a suspension of the ban.

OnlyFans said on Wednesday that it decided to allow its platform to serve as a home for all creators.

“We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change,” the company said in a tweet. “OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.”

When asked by CNN Business if the suspension of the ban is indefinite and If the company is willing to appease the banks who have declined approving transactions linked to OnlyFans, the company responded: “The proposed October 1, 2021 changes are no longer required due to banking partners’ assurances that OnlyFans can support all genres of creators.”

One would think that suspending the ban will pose a relief to the sex workers who were torn apart by shock on hearing the news of the ban due to it being their primary source of income, but this is not the case, as it still leaves most of the paranoid.

“I feel like the right to work has been given back to me even after it was kind of teased to be taken away from me. The feeling is just bizarre.” Said one creator, Maya Morena, while speaking to CNN. “I would like something more permanent in the future, a guarantee that I can’t be put at risk to have my rights taken from me,” she added.

Another creator, Bria Backwoods, told CNN “To me, suspended is putting your decision off. It doesn’t say you’re not going to go through with it,” Backwoods said. “In a matter of days, they switched up and changed their stance on it… it’s very strange to me. What exactly is your plan?”
