Microsoft recognized as Magic Quadrant Leader in ODBMS

A recent Gartner Inc. assessment has once again recognized Microsoft as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems (ODBMS) for the 3rd time. This assessment implies Microsoft is the best software to use in managing data.

Microsoft in a news release after the announcement reiterated its long standing commitment to provide users with the choice and flexibility they need to easily navigate the current mobile-first and cloud-first world. The company also added that with the release of its SQL Server in 2014, Microsoft incorporated improvements like high availability for mission critical workloads, advanced security and in-memory technology in order to fulfill that commitment.

In addition, Microsoft mentioned that when developing its data strategy, the company endeavors to ensure that customers’ problems would be solved with ease, hence the reason that “Customers can now manage both structured and unstructured data through the simplicity of T-SQL rather than requiring a mastery in Hadoop and MapReduce technologies.”

Microsoft believes that its effort so far validate its commitment to deliver a comprehensive platform that makes sure every organization, team and individual is empowered to do and achieve more because of the data at their fingertips.

Gartner also recognizes Microsoft as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms and has placed Microsoft as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Data Warehouse Database Management Systems – recognizing Microsoft’s ability to execute in the data warehouse market as well.

Gartner is a leading information technology, and research advisory firm that delivers technology research to global technology business leaders to help them make informed decisions on key initiatives.
