iPhone 14 series production delayed due to fresh lockdown in China

The production process of the coming iPhone 14 series will be delayed due to COVID-19 restrictions in China.

The iPhone 14 series will launch this fall and will feature four devices, as did its previous model but, there will be dramatic changes to some of the iPhone 14 models, which we expected to have come ages ago. The launch of these devices, however, may be delayed due to a few factors.

Despite being designed in California, the assembling of all Apple products takes place in China. This is because the labour market in China is massive and affordable, and saves Apple a lot of money when they assemble products there. Recently, however,  a series of COVID-19 cases have sprung up again in China, forcing the country to go into lockdown and restrictions.

As a result fo these restrictions, workers can not perform their duties hence slowing down the manufacturing process of the iPhone 14 series. This will delay the engineering verification test by at least three weeks in comparison to the launch of last year’s iPhone 13 series.

The iPhone 14 is set to come in the month of September and will flaunt four models. There will be no iPhone 14 Mini this year. Instead, an iPhone 14 Max will launch. Two models from the iPhone 14 series; the iPhone 14 prom and 14 Pro Max will give up the age-long notch. They will make use of a centre pill cutout, bringing Apple to terms with what is already available on Android devices. Reports also suggest that not all iPhone 14 devices will make use of a new chip as some will be sporting the old A15 bionic chip.

The iPhone 14 series will launch with iOS 16 which will be showcased at Apple’s WWDC 2022 event. This event will kick off June 6 to June 10 and will feature an array of software releases.

We hope COVID-19 cases in China reduce and the restrictions come to a halt, so that things ease off and the production process in the country returns to normal.
