iOS 27 Announced at WWDC 2026: Everything Apple Just Revealed

Apple has officially iOS 27 announced at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2026), unveiling a major update focused on artificial intelligence, personalization, and usability improvements. While last year’s software updates centered on introducing Apple Intelligence, this year’s release focuses on making those features more practical and polished.

The biggest announcements include a redesigned AI-powered Siri, improvements to the controversial Liquid Glass interface, and new customization tools designed to make iPhones easier to use.

Here is everything Apple revealed during the keynote.

Siri Gets Its Biggest Upgrade in Years

The headline feature of iOS 27 is a completely revamped Siri experience.

Apple introduced a new AI-powered version of Siri that is designed to be more conversational, more natural, and better at understanding context. The assistant now features improved language capabilities, richer visual interactions, and deeper integration across Apple’s ecosystem.

According to Apple, users can now:

  • Hold more natural conversations with Siri
  • Receive richer visual responses
  • Adjust Siri’s speech pace and expressiveness
  • Access Siri through a dedicated interface
  • Use AI features across more apps and services

The update represents Apple’s strongest response yet to growing competition from AI assistants offered by companies such as Google and OpenAI.

Apple Intelligence Expands

Apple also used WWDC 2026 to expand its Apple Intelligence platform.

The company is positioning AI as a core part of the iPhone experience rather than a collection of isolated features. The upgraded Siri serves as the centerpiece of this strategy, but Apple also hinted at broader AI integrations across its software ecosystem.

While Apple did not reveal every upcoming AI feature during the keynote, developers are expected to learn more throughout WWDC sessions this week.

Liquid Glass Gets a Major Fix

One of the most discussed features from iOS 26 was the Liquid Glass design language.

Although visually impressive, many users complained that transparency effects sometimes made menus and interface elements difficult to read.

Apple has now responded.

iOS 27 introduces a new transparency slider that allows users to control how much of the Liquid Glass effect appears throughout the operating system. Users can increase or reduce transparency based on personal preference.

This change directly addresses one of the biggest criticisms of the previous design.

More Customization for Users

Customization continues to be a major focus for Apple.

The new update provides users with greater control over how interface elements look and behave. While Apple remains more controlled than Android, the company is gradually giving users more flexibility to personalize their devices.

The transparency controls are part of a broader effort to improve usability while maintaining Apple’s design philosophy.

Performance and Stability Improvements

Beyond flashy features, Apple says iOS 27 includes numerous performance and reliability improvements.

This is important because many users have increasingly asked for software stability over long feature lists.

Apple emphasized that iOS 27 aims to improve the overall experience while continuing to build on the foundation introduced in previous releases.

Which iPhones Will Support iOS 27?

Apple says iOS 27 support extends back to the iPhone 11 lineup, allowing millions of existing users to receive the update. However, some advanced Apple Intelligence features will require newer hardware.

As with previous releases, the most demanding AI features are expected to perform best on Apple’s latest processors.

Apple will provide a full compatibility list before the public rollout later this year.

When Will iOS 27 Be Available?

Developer beta versions of iOS 27 are expected to roll out immediately following WWDC.

A public beta will likely arrive later in the summer, while the final version is expected to launch alongside Apple’s next generation of iPhones in the fall, following Apple’s usual release schedule.

With iOS 27 announced, Apple is clearly betting heavily on AI while also responding to user feedback about design and usability.

The redesigned Siri is the biggest story from WWDC 2026, but improvements to Liquid Glass, deeper Apple Intelligence integration, and broader customization options suggest Apple is trying to balance innovation with practicality.

Whether these updates are enough to close the AI gap with competitors remains to be seen. However, iOS 27 is shaping up to be one of Apple’s most significant software releases in years.
