IBM-Building Cognitive Businesses For Nigerians With Hybrid Cloud Technology

For large, medium and small-sized enterprises across West Africa, cloud technology is becoming a major solution especially for data-intensive industries like scientific research in agriculture and biotechnology, space studies, weather forecasting and for financial firms.

Cloud technology is the delivery of computing services—servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics and more—over the Internet (“the cloud”) and IBM has come to Nigerian startups and existing businesses with the aim of growing cognitive businesses with these technologies that offer the opportunity to augment and enhance human expertise and drive a new way to improve productivity, through in-depth analytic studies and unlimited information.

Speaking at the 2017 IBM Forum, Zeeshan Mehdi, IBM Data Science Tech Sales leader for the Middle East and Africa, stressed the importance of cloud technology to business, saying cloud technology will help businesses grow through unlimited data space and availability of information with no “silos” (important information which is hidden by other Softwares or plug-ins on our regular PCs) as data available on “the cloud” is pure and untampered with.

Addressing security issues as regards operations on “the cloud,” Zeeshan assured potential customers present at the event of the precautions put in place to secure customer data; making IBM cloud technology the most secure cloud provider at the moment.

IBM cloud through Mr. Dipo Faulkner, Country General Manager IBM, Nigeria also revealed its intention to start an Academy, “AFCATECH” through which staff of existing and intending customers would be admitted quarterly for a one-week training through which they will become IBM certified, this he believes will foster trust and create better awareness of IBM cloud technology.

Also speaking at the event, Yusuf Assenjee, Cloud Service Leader, Central/ West Africa, talked about the order at which IBM Cloud Technology intends to improve customer businesses and also meet the needs of Business professionals, App developers, Data Engineers and Data analysts, as according to him, these people are the future of growth and existing businesses. Yusuf also thanked all the attendants at the events expressing how pleased IBM was at the turnout of this year’s Forum.
