The Google TV app holds an in-built mobile remote compatible with Android TVs. At the moment, the Google TV app is only available in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. You can head visit the Google PlayStore or Apple App Store and download the Google TV app.

If the application is not available in your country, then activate your VPN to be able to complete your download. Once active, set up the application to connect it to your Android TV. The setup process for this application is easy to run through.

First, launch the application and tap on the Android TV remote icon at the bottom of the app interface. Next, the application will scan for TVs around it, once the scan is complete pick your TV from the list that pops up. The Google TV app will give you a six-digit pin, which you will proceed to enter on your TV. Once done, this will create a wireless connection between your device and your Android TV.

Now you can control your Android TV from your smartphone without having to reach out for the remote control. More interesting is that this feature is very accessible on Android via the notification panel. That’s one more thing your smartphone can do!
