How to Download an Archive of Everything You’ve Ever Posted on Social Media

If you’ve ever wanted to see everything you’ve ever posted online from photos and messages to old comments, most social media platforms now let you download a complete archive of your activity. Whether you’re cleaning up your digital footprint or just curious, here’s how to download your data from Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and LinkedIn.

1. How to Download Your Facebook Data

  1. Go to Settings & Privacy → Settings → Your Facebook Information.
  2. Click Download Your Information.
  3. Choose the date range, format (HTML or JSON), and media quality.
  4. Select the types of data you want (posts, photos, messages, etc.).
  5. Click Create File.
    You’ll get a notification when the file is ready to download.

2. How to Download Your Instagram Data

  1. Open the Instagram app or go to the web version.
  2. Go to Settings → Privacy and Security → Data Download.
  3. Enter your email address and select the format (HTML or JSON).
  4. Tap Request Download.
    Instagram will email you a link to your data archive, usually within a few hours.

3. How to Download Your X (Twitter) Archive

Tap Request archive.
You’ll receive a notification and a download link

On X.com, click More → Settings and Privacy → Your Account → Download an archive of your data.

Enter your password and verify your identity (you may need 2FA).
