Goal-Line Technology: Relax, there Wont be Ghost Goals in Brazil World Cup

As we all know the FIFA world cup will kick off in about 24 hours, the world biggest football event will witness so much hostilities as all 32 nations are coming with high spirit.

Everyone plans to enjoy every single moment in Brazil World cup and not to expect issues such as racism, match official’s decisions that will be detrimental to the overall objective of the competition such as the controversial goal scored by Frank Lampard against Germany during the last tournamet.

This controversial decision brought about the Goal-Line Technology (GLT) which will be employed in Brazil to prevent any other controversial goal line incidents. GLT was used at the last FIFA confederations cup and will be the first time the technology will be used at the world cup

The technology will make use of 14 high-speed cameras around the pitch, 7 focused on each goal mouth with the indication of whether a goal has been scored confirmed automatically within a second of a ball crossing the line. The referee’s special watch will vibrate and flash “GOAL.”

The latest goal-line technology is demonstrated ahead of its first official use in the World Cup in Brazil. Dirk Boichhausen, CEO of GoalControl, says the system uses cameras that tell the referee if the ball has crossed the line via a wristwatch.

Johannes Holzmueller, Group leader of Fifa quality programme has thrown his weight behind the system stating that it is 100% effective.
