DStv’s new packages start on 5 November. Here’s what each one costs

New DStv packages in Nigeria from 5 November: Starter 6,000, Select 11,000, Sports 21,000, Premium 44,500 naira

DStv is changing every package it sells in Nigeria on 5 November 2026. From that day there will be four: Starter at ₦6,000 a month, Select at ₦11,000, Sports at ₦21,000 and Premium at ₦44,500. If you already pay for DStv, MultiChoice Nigeria says you will be moved to one of the new DStv packages in Nigeria automatically, with no new decoder needed.

The short version

DStv replaces its old Nigerian packages with four new ones on 5 November 2026. Here is what each costs and who it suits.

  1. The new monthly prices are ₦6,000 for Starter, ₦11,000 for Select, ₦21,000 for Sports and ₦44,500 for Premium.
  2. Existing subscribers are moved automatically to a package with at least the channels they have now, and prepaid months are honoured.
  3. Starter shows one Premier League match a week, while Sports carries all the Premier League and Champions League football.
  4. Over a year, Sports costs ₦180,000 more than Starter, so check how much football you really watch before you upgrade.
  5. GOtv is also moving to four tiers, but confirm its prices on GOtv’s official app or website before you pay.

What the new DStv packages in Nigeria cost

Here are the four packages, as MultiChoice Nigeria announced them on 27 October 2026 and as DStv now lists them on its Nigeria website, with the yearly cost worked out by TechCity.

  • Starter, ₦6,000 a month (₦72,000 a year). Entertainment channels, Africa Magic+ (the new name for Africa Magic Family) and SuperSport KICKOFF, which carries one Premier League match a week and selected Champions League games. The La Liga channel also moves here.
  • Select, ₦11,000 a month (₦132,000 a year). Movies, local and international series, children’s channels, plus selected Premier League and Champions League matches, according to DStv.
  • Sports, ₦21,000 a month (₦252,000 a year). All the Premier League and Champions League football, plus WWE, UFC and the entertainment channels from the cheaper packages.
  • Premium, ₦44,500 a month (₦534,000 a year). Everything in Sports, plus Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis, golf majors and the M-Net movie and series channels. The price is the same as the old Premium.

For new customers, MultiChoice is also selling a decoder, dish and one month of an entry-level package for ₦15,000. DStv Stream, the app-only option with no dish, starts at ₦6,000 a month.

What happens if you already pay for DStv?

What changes for you: probably nothing on 5 November itself. MultiChoice Nigeria says active accounts will be moved to the new line-up from that date at no extra charge, and that each subscriber lands on a package with at least the content they had before. If you paid for several months in advance, you keep your package until that paid period runs out. You do not need a new decoder.

The part to watch is your next renewal. Your old package name will disappear, and the new one may cost a different amount. Before you pay, open the MyDStv app or the official DStv Nigeria website and check which new package your account has been given and what it will cost from your next payment.

Which DStv package should you pick?

For football fans, the step that matters is Select to Sports: ₦10,000 more a month, or ₦120,000 a year. Here is a simple way to decide.

  • You watch the big match on Saturday and not much else: Starter. One Premier League match a week is included, and it is the cheapest way to keep DStv.
  • Your house mostly watches films, series and cartoons: Select. You get the movie and kids channels without paying for football you will not watch.
  • You follow one club every week, home and away: Sports. Starter only shows one match a week, and it may not be your team’s.
  • You watch Formula 1, tennis or golf: Premium is the only package that carries all three.

A quick test before you upgrade: count the matches you watched at home last month. If it was four or fewer, the ₦15,000 a month gap between Starter and Sports works out to at least ₦3,750 per match.

What about GOtv?

GOtv is moving to four tiers too: Easy, Starter, Select and Sports. Published prices for the GOtv tiers do not yet match across reports, so check the GOtv app or the official GOtv website for the exact figure before you renew.

What we do not know yet

  • Exactly which new package each old one (such as Compact or Compact Plus) maps to for your account. MultiChoice says you will get at least your current channels, but check the app.
  • Whether prices will stay at these levels. MultiChoice has not promised that they will.

If you also pay for DStv in Kenya, those packages changed too. Here is what the new DStv Kenya packages cost. And if you stream matches on your phone, these five settings stop your data finishing fast.
