Konga Yakata sales hit over N1.2billion

Konga.com, Nigeria’s largest online mall experienced record breaking sales during their Yakata promo which held on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27. According to the company, they raked in a whooping sum of N1.2billlion in sales during the two day sales event.

Yakata is Konga.com’s version of the world famous ‘Black Friday’ sales event. Considering the company’s sales figures, it sure looks like Konga.com succeeded in tempting customers with mouth-watering deals.

The company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Shola Adekoya expressed his delight with the sales generated during Yakata and added that “The success is not for Konga alone, it is for a myriad of small and medium sized businesses across Nigeria that are selling on Konga’s trusted platform today. This is also a reflection of the outstanding team of people we have here and the support from our customers.”

“Konga is becoming more and more of a positive force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian economy and we are grateful to all Nigerians that have chosen us as their trusted ecommerce platform.”

Speaking on other interesting developments that were recorded during the event. Adekoya mentioned that at its peak, Konga.com had over 25,000 users simultaneously engaged with the site. He also mentioned that sales on the platform peaked at 1million naira per minute, which according to Adekoya was a growth of 113% from 2014 sales.

The company’s CEO, Sim Shagaya equally revealed that buyer traffic was more than double that of 2014, and that only 4 hours into the promo, buyers had made orders worth over N100Million. He also pointed out that many of those purchases had been made using Konga Pay-Konga’s new online paying solution.

According to the company, 40 percent of day 1 orders were shipped within 24 hours and some customers tweeted to prove they had received their orders even before the sale promo was over.

Some merchants on the platform also took to tweeter to share their joy on the huge orders they received during the sales promo. Here are a few of such tweets

Estendo Power tweeted ““I have shipped over 107 generators so far. I still have about 300 generators to ship going to different locations”

Maxitech Global ““I sold 110 laptops yesterday. I normally sell about 10 a day… That was a huge jump. Thank you Konga”

Seolak Company Limited, another merchant on the Konga platform tweeted “Orders were unexpectedly massive. I worked all night, received 499 orders. I have shipped 246 so far.”

Finally, the company also added that 58% of all visits to the site during Yakata were done via mobile, with 42% done via desktop.
