Young Entrepreneurs of Nigeria Drums Support for Local Manufacturers

The Young Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (YEN) yesterday unveiled the ‘Support-Made-in-Nigeria Products’ Campaign in its head office in Lagos. The 21-day campaign which was unveiled by YEN National President, Chris Kohol and its first National Vice President, Nwando Isabella also had many entrepreneurs and dignitaries in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Chris Kohol, the National President of Young Entrepreneurs of Nigeria mentioned that the campaign is designed to a) spur Nigerians to support the new Government’s industrial revolution plan and appreciate the enormous importance of buying, supporting and encouraging the Made-In-Nigeria products and b) further encourage the Federal government to continue to support Made-in-Nigeria products by empowering local manufacturers and enacting policies to favour local content.

So far, the ‘Support-Made-in-Nigeria Products’ Campaign will be run using social media channels like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to propagate its message within the next 21 days. The campaign is also expected to feature an online exhibition platform for various Made-in-Nigeria products. The exhibition would allow local manufactures nationwide to showcase their wares whilst giving Nigerians an opportunity to see a large variety of locally made products. YEN however did not give an exact date when this online exhibition would be available.

This sounds like a laudable initiative. but since it only just started I’m particularly interested in seeing just how well this campaign does in delivering on its aims. Anyways, by starting such a campaign YEN has succeeded in reminding all of us of the small and very signicant part each of us can play in reviving our economy by ‘buying made in Nigeria to save the Naira’.
