Yahsat strengthens African presence with third satellite

To strengthen its presence in Africa, Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), satellite Internet connectivity provide, has launched a new satellite called Al Yah 3 in space. The company said the new satellite will extend the commercial coverage of Yahsat Ka band to 19 new African markets.

According to media report, the satellite coverage now reaches 60% of African populationThe new markets to be covered by Al Yah 3 are Algeria, Botswana, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, The Gambia, Ghana, Libya , Morocco, Mozambique, Malawi, Senegal, Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

With the new satellite that joins Al Yah 1 and Al Yah 2, launched respectively in 2011 and 2012 bringing the total number of countries covered to 28 countries.

“The demand we have seen in the market, and especially in the African market” . It “has encouraged us to increase our capacity in these markets and also to increase the number of countries we cover … Africa is an important market for us and after six years of activity in this market, we are the leading supplier of satellites and broadband,”said Masood Mr. Sharif Mahmood, the chief executive officer of Yahsat.
