Visually Broadcasting Nigerian Elections Data To The World

Following the result of the presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and All Progressive Congress APC, the incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan is now to go head to head with former military head of state General Muhammadu Buhari in fierce battle in the presidential elections scheduled Feb 14 2015.

This topic is now most talked about chatter, creating lots of data lake, continuously increasing, grossing millions of impressions from which smart insights can be drawn if mined and properly analyzed. For this reason the platform Nigeriaelections2015.com was created, a visual listening open data platform aimed at visualizing information – facts, ideas, topics, issues, statistics, queries available in volumes, velocity, veracity and variety – all to a bare minimum of words, numbers and very beautiful imagery.

The idea is for the designed inforgraphics to aid us clearly understand the elections chatter, cutting through the noise and revealing the hidden connections, patterns and the ordinary Nigerian citizen’s dilemma underneath it all which in turn would lead to informed decisions, accurate implementation, transformation and change knowing fully that a well informed electorate is a pre-requisite for democracy.

Nigeria in the past 8 years has seen more than its fare share of turmoil; insurgence, drudgery, poverty, fraud and many more stemming from bad and poor decision making by the polity. Everyday is a news of missing public funds which could have been used for development, these funds are never found neither are their perpetrators brought to book. It almost seems like there is no rule and no law, and that the present government is a free for all and jamboree one.

Nigerians are tired of suffering and smiling and come next presidential elections, they are willing to make another decision that will either make or mar their lives and livelihoods for another 8 years.

The present president has said he will not fail Nigerians, his fierce rival says that personal ambition does not drive him and well Nigerians will have another 4-8years to decipher which of these statements are true.
