Twitter Character limit

Twitter Files: Character limit per tweet to increase from 280 to 4000

Originally, the Twitter character limit was 140 words per tweet before it was increased to 280 characters in 2017.

Elon Musk took to his handle to confirm that the Twitter character limit will increase. Currently, users of the app can only use 280 characters per tweet. Those in need of more characters will need to rely on threads to communicate longer tweets to their audience.

Replying to  a Twitter user, Musk said the character limit will increase but did not go into detail.

Originally, only 140 words were permitted on the platform before it was increased to 280 characters in 2017. This increment will aid users in better expressing their ideas in long-form tweets.

Although the details of this character increase are not available, they might be available to all users of the platform. This feature will be a blessing to many business pages as they will be able to share more information on their products with prospective customers. In the coming months, this feature will become available to users of the platform globally.

This will come in addition to a few other features Twitter intends to roll out in future. All new features coming to the platform will also contribute to building “The Everything App” of Musk’s dreams. There are also hopes that this feature will attract more thriving businesses from around the globe to Twitter.
