Tecno RGBW Colour Filter Sensor

Tecno’s next Camon to come with RGBW Colour filter sensor

Tecno is adding a White pixel to RGB making its RGBW human eye like image sensor something to look forward to in its next Camon
Tecno RGBW Colour Filter Sensor

Announced at the just concluded MWC 2022, Tecno is looking to take camera features on its smartphones to epic visual proportions with its new RGBW colour filter sensor.

Tecno has made efforts to focus on camera capability on its Camon series over the years. While we cannot say for sure how much that has changed users’ perception of the device from a brand perspective, they seem to have found their way into the premium device spectrum and this new sensor could mean better positioning – in the best camera club – for the new Camon series, as it is referred to as “the most human eye like image sensor”

While there are only speculations regarding the launch and other specifications of the next Camon, what is certain is that this device will use an RGBW colour filter sensor. But, how will this boost photography on the coming Tecno Camon?

How Does The RGBW Colour Filter Sensor Stand Out From The Traditional RGB Colour Filter?

In camera speak, RGB stands for the primary colours of light – Red, Green, and Blue. These colours are further mixed in different proportions to form other colours. This colour algorithm is used for the sensing and capturing of light while taking pictures.

But, with RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, and White), there is an addition of a white pixel. The main purpose of this addition is to make the sensor better at capturing light in darker settings. This addition will help reduce colour distortion and improve the brightness of a picture taken in a dark environment without affecting the image contrast.

The RGBW sensor to be used by Tecno is developed by Samsung. The two companies (Samsung and Tecno) have been working together for quite a while concerning this announcement.

We look forward to the launch of the new Tecno Camon series and trying out the RGBW colour filter sensor. We will release an update once the launch of this smartphone is imminent along with its specs and price.
