Uber’s Rival, Taxify announce strategic partnership with Chinese ride-sharing firm, Didi Chuxing

Taxify just announced a partnership with Chinese ride-sharing firm, Didi Chuxing (simply referred to as Didi) to enable her scale her platform in Europe and Africa to become the most popular transport option in both regions.

Speaking of Africa, in Nigeria, Africa most populous city there has been several complaints as to the poor customer service from major ride-hailing service, Uber and even Taxify. Although, many (including me) assert that the latter is now preferred. But a lot of work still needs to be done.

At the announcement of the joint partnership, no investment amount was specified.

Didi, a leading mobile transportation platform acquired Uber China in 2016. Perhaps, this partnership with Taxify could mean a blowing out of the water for Uber in Lagos if something is not done urgently to rescue Uber. It could mean that if Taxify captures the larger part of the ride-hailing market in Lagos, Didi will once again make a move to acquire Uber in Lagos.

As an aside, Uber in Lagos has stepped up their advertisement game, perhaps, to gain mind-share. It didn’t have to come to this 🙁 had they kept up with their earlier good performance. But yeah, the company is expected to overcome her current internal struggles and maybe bounceback.
