SpaceX retires old Starlink dish, offers new V4 dish

SpaceX offers new Starlink dish to US customers, ships old model to rest of the world

There is no longer a service plan option for SpaceX’s second generation “Standard Actuated” Starlink dish, which was first introduced in November 2021.

In the United States of America, which is Starlink’s biggest market, the transition from Gen 2 to Gen 3 is now complete.

However, while the rest of the world is still receiving the Standard Actuated dish, all U.S. residential subscribers can now purchase the newest Starlink dish, model V4 from the SpaceX’s official website.

Sales of the next-generation Starlink dish were previously restricted by the company to select residential plan users and subscribers on the roam and business tiers. But not anymore.

Starlink.com’s home page has been modified to reflect the switch. Each image of the phased out Gen 2 hardware has been swapped out by a new one that shows the Gen 3 Standard dish.

The new V4 dish offers “the same reliable, high-speed internet you can expect from Starlink,” according to an official statement from SpaceX.

SpaceX promises that the new dish will eventually make its way to more markets for customers outside of the United States.

Do you look forward to the new v4 dish or are you sad to see the Gen 2 Standard Actuated model go?
