Reliance Infosystems and Microsoft Charge Organizations to Embrace Digital Transformation

Reliance Infosystems Limited has joined leading software company, Microsoft Nigeria to charge organization on digital transformation adoption. The call was made at the Christmas-in-the-Cloud (CIC) event which held at Microsoft Nigeria office premise, Victoria Island Lagos and had in attendance CIOs and CEOs of leading organizations in Nigeria.

Welcoming participants, the MD/CEO of Reliance Infosystems, Olayemi popoola noted that Christmas in Cloud is an initiative of Reliance Infosystems in partnership with Microsoft Nigeria to charge organizations to leverage IT solutions for profitability. According to him, “Christmas-in-the-Cloud is an annual year-end event that brings together C-Level executives across various verticals to share ideas on how to widen the impact of technology input in companies’ performance.”

Speaking further, Popoola stated that that it is imperative for organizations to embrace digital transformation if they are going to make headways in today’s competitive business world. He hinted on the need for organizations to adopt technology that connects with people indigenously, while also using same to increase the value and efficiency in all aspects of their business models.

While delivering a note on why organizations should adopt cloud technology, Head of Legal Affairs at Microsoft Nigeria, John Edokpolo, mentioned that today’s realities have conditioned organizations to take their businesses beyond what it used to be in the past and more businesses all over the world are seeing the need to be in the cloud. On why organizations should trust Microsoft cloud, Edokpolo said organizations who entrust their data to the Microsoft cloud have every right to feel safe as data safety is key.

“Because it’s your data, you decide who gains access, and you work with us to decide where it is located. To safeguard your data, we use advanced security technology and cryptography. Our compliance is independently audited, and we’re transparent on many levels—from how we handle legal demands for your customer data to the security of our code. We offer detailed trust information on each of our cloud services,” Edokpolo says.

The Vice Chairman of Fedex Nigeria, Isaac Orolugbagbe spoke on how businesses can lead digital transformation motion in a recession economy. According to him, organizations must take stock of where they are vis-à-vis where they want to be and champion the change with technology trends. He pointed out that people must learn to open their minds to technology that drives values rather than mere acquisition of technology.

The Christmas in the Cloud 2016 event ended with a dinner hosted to honour participating CIOs and CEOs.
