Paystack Ex-employees Set To Launch GoLemon

Four former senior managers at Paystack are set to launch GoLemon, a startup that delivers groceries and household items.

All four co- founders were early employees of Paystack and had spent not less than 6 years with the company.

  • Abiola Showemimo was one of the first ten employees of paystack.
  • Yinka Adewuyi – product lead,
  •  Gbadegbo Gbade-Oyelakin – core platforms team lead
  • Abdulrahman Jogbojogbo – marketing lead

Adewuyi, is now GoLemon’s CEO, while Gbade-Oyelakin is the CTO.

Jogbojogbo,, will lead the new  startup’s growth, while Showemimo, will lead operations.

Competition Vs Confidence

The startup delivers groceries and household items to homes and businesses, steppping into a market that already has competitors like Mano and Pricepally.

Co- founder Jogbojogbo however expressed confidence that  the competition is only in aspects of its product offerings.

According to him, GoLemon does not have an “end-to-end competitor.”

While big players are exiting the scene on accounts of  challenging unit economics and big losses, Jogbojogbo believes this is the best time to start a grocery delivery business.

He said in a conversation ; “It’s difficult to get started right now and get traction but if we can weather the storm right now, I think we would have been able to build a formidable business,”

Citing his co- founder’s experiences over the years as a strength the startup would leverage to build, he mentioned;

  •  Showemimo’s experience as a supermarket owner in Lagos and
  • Gbade-Oyelakin’s experience as head of engineering at Supermart, an online supermarket.

 Structure of Operation

GoLemon sources its bulk products directly from farmers and FMCGs and manages its inventory and fulfillment centres.

With its  sourcing network connected directly to farmers, and manufacturers the startup optimizes for the lowest costs possible to attract a wide customer base.

GoLemon mostly caters to large orders.

The co-founders intentionally designed the company “around people who make repeat orders, repeat purchases and large basket size orders,” says JogboJogbo.
