Nokia new products announced at IFA 2022

Nokia looks to regain popularity with new direction on devices launched at IFA2022

With their new product announcement, Nokia is more resolved in its commitment to manufacture and support more sustainable devices.

The IFA2022 event for this year took place in Berlin, and among the companies that showcased new products, Nokia was of particular interest. Over the past few years, we have observed the HMD-owned smartphone company try hard to become the Android device you want to own. They do this by offering a stock Android experience (just like the Google Pixel) on their devices and regularly releasing OS updates once available.

This move gives more value to their devices, as a user can keep them for 2 or 3 years and still get all Android OS updates. This year, however, Nokia is keen on making their devices more appealing to the global community. Nokia took to the IFA2022 stage to launch a total of four devices, all of which benefit from their sustainability efforts.

Three areas Nokia is working to improve sustainability on your next smartphone

In a bid to care for the environment better, Nokia’s new devices follow the company’s trend of using recycled materials. This initiative is one that a more manufacturers have begun embracing in order to reduce e-waste. The other two sustainability initiatives from the company all contribute to reducing waste on the earth.

While some of the more affordable Android brands have begun providing OS updates on their smartphones, Nokia has been at this for longer. Each Nokia device comes ready with 2 or 3 years of OS and security updates, which help keep your device for longer. This helps reduce the amount of waste in the form of devices yearly since users only change their devices biyearly.

The last of these sustainability efforts is a new service from HMD known as Circular. With this service, Nokia users get to pay a monthly subscription for their devices and get an upgrade to another device when ready. The old device returns to the manufacturer instead of being thrown in the bin. This will also help reduce the amount of e-waste in the product department.

The new devices include three smartphones and a tablet. Among the list of smartphones are the X30 5GG60 5G, and C31. As for the tablet, it is the Tablet T21, all four devices will benefit from this sustainability effort.
