Nigerian lawmakers want to stop Teleology’s 9mobile takeover

For not telling the House of Representatives about the sale of 9mobile to Teleology Holdings, federal lawmakers have directed the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) to stop Teleology Holdings Limited from assuming ownership of 9mobile formerly known as Etisalat.

The decision of the house followed a recommendation that was made by the House of Representatives Committee on Telecommunications after it questioned the Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, on the sale of 9mobile to Teleology without informing the National Assembly.

“We as a committee do not know anybody called Teleology because they have never appeared before this committee. I believe NCC should know whoever Teleology is and be able to help us to call them,” said  committee chairman, Hon. Saheed Akinade-Fijabi.

According to him, the committee ought to be carried along in the sale, take-over or transfer of license of 9mobile.

Instead, he said members were reading on the pages of newspapers about Teleology’s take over of 9mobile.
