MDaaS Global Secures $6.8million Investment

MDaaS Global, a Nigerian health tech company has secured $3 million in pre-Series A funding.

The round was co-led  by Aruwa Capital and follow- on investor, Newton Partners.

The healthtech startup also received follow-on capital from Ventures Platform, bringing its total investment to $6.8 million.

In its statement on the funding, MDaaS said it  will use the investment to develop BeaconOS,  and also expand its healthcare network to cover all Nigerian states.

 Founded in 2017 by  Oluwasoga Oni(CEO), Opeyemi Ologun, Genevieve Oni, (CFO) and Joseph McCord, MDaaS  operates a network of tech-enabled diagnostic centers across the country.

SERVICES

MDaaS offers a range of services at its diagnostic centers, including

  •  imaging such as digital x-ray and ultrasound, 
  • cardiac services like ECG and echo, and 
  • other lab services including
    •  chemistry analysis
    •  immunoassay and
    •  hematology.
  •  annual screenings for  employees in corporate organizations .
  •  pre-employment screenings and
  •  government-mandated screenings.

PRODUCTS 

SentinelX app  serves as a  platform for patients and corporate clients to access MDaaS’s services and facilities.

It is also a personalized care program that allows patients to pay a one-time fee for yearly access to a doctor.

BeaconOS  is the operating system for MDaaS’ diagnostic facilities.

It provides the company with 

  • visibility into the day-to-day operations of its centers
  •  easier management of patient visits and 
  • easier management of clinical results for its teams.

Olewerk is an app on the BeaconOS for optimized diagnostic workflows. It eases communication between the diagnostic centers and clients. 

Beam  is also a partner-facing app on BeaconOS that assists partners in managing occupational health for their teams. 

MDaaS intends to leverage the new investment to develop new applications on the BeaconOS platform.

One of such is  an affiliate clinic portal for real-time patient referrals and results management

PORTFOLIO

  MDaaS’ runs its  care networks in collaboration with over 1,300 referring clinics and  over 1,000 organizations. These include hospitals, pharmacies, health tech startups, corporate partners and 34 HMOs.

The health tech has  served 108,724 patients in the last one year (60.8%women), and over 275,000 patients since its inception.

 MDaaS conducted over 240,000 diagnostic tests, with chest x-rays, urinalysis and full blood count ranking among the top three procedures performed.

 The startup currently has a network of 17 diagnostic centers across 10 states and plans to increase that by 23 more in the coming years.
