MTN VTU PLUS is a new product launched yesterday by MTN, Nigeria’s largest Telecom operator.
Mr Omatsola Barrow, Sales and Distribution Executive during his speech made it known that the MTN VTU PLUS is another innovation from MTN, a product that is first of its kind and does not exist anywhere in the world.
VTU, is an acronym for ‘Virtual Top Up’ is not a new service to Nigerians, it is an airtime recharge mechanism that allows a VTU vendor (VTU seller) top up a subscriber’s account without the use of USSD code(e.g *556#, *888#) nor the 12 digits recharge pin. With a drive to ensuring customer satisfaction and hassle free transaction, VTU PLUS not only allow vendors sell VTU airtime, it also provides the following as additional services to the subscriber:
- Data Bundle
- Blackberry Subscription
- Logical Pins (12 digits pin)
This is really a big PLUS as customers are provided expanded varieties of choices. This is sure the goal of the MTN VTU PLUS. MTN subscribers need not buy multiple recharge vouchers in order to subscribe for data bundles or Blackberry plans. VTU PLUS also allows you send the 12 digits recharge pins to friends and loved ones.
MTN VTU PLUS will enable MTN trade partners to make one single payment for stock but be able to sell 48 different MTN products and services. It will provide effective tracking and monitoring sales process for both MTN and trade partners, reduce cost of inventory and also ensure adequate safekeeping of unsold stock in electronic format. Other benefits of MTN VTU PLUS include reduction in the risk of loading wrong pin, toping up airtime remotely and erasing the stress of loading multiple recharge vouchers.
VTU works by SMS application on MTN subscriber’s SIM card. The platform allows vending a minimum voucher value of 50 up to thousands of Naira value airtime and data subscription. The MTN VTU PLUS pilot test revealed that about 18 million Naira volume of VTU transaction was achieved within one month. This is a great success and an indication that this service will be greatly accepted by subscribers.
