JUST IN: Microsoft unanimously selects Satya Nadella as Chairman

Nadella in reaction to the allegations against Bill Gates said, “the Microsoft of 2021 is very different from the Microsoft of 2000

Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella has been chosen as chairman of the board, this comes after 7 years with him being CEO of the tech giant.

The new position was announced on Wednesday, 16th of June 2020. As CEO, Nadella was able to move Microsoft by an upward trajectory, raking close to $2 trillion in the tech space, and equally the number one PC maker in cloud computing.

According to a statement, Microsoft indicated that Nadella was “unanimously elected” to replace John Thompson in the position.

It hasn’t been long since the company underwent a probe involving its co-founder and former Chairman, Bill Gates. Last month, news about his affair with an employee in 2000 began to raise dust. The board is currently investigating the affair and have debunked speculations that Gates left the board in early 2020 because of it. This is after confirming from his spokesperson that his decision was unrelated.

The news of Gates affair was brought to light after his 27 years marriage to Melinda French Gates crashed. Since then, Microsoft has been under strict surveillance concerning its workplace ethics.

Investment firm Arjuna Capital in a shareholders resolution has mandated that Microsoft released an annual transparency report informing its sexual harassment policies and investigation for cases in its workplace. Microsoft did not respond to the resolution.

Meanwhile, Nadella in reaction to the allegations against Gates said, “the Microsoft of 2021 is very different from the Microsoft of 2000.”

“To me and everyone at Microsoft, our focus on our culture, our diversity, our inclusion, in particular, the everyday experience of our people is super important,” he added.
