Apples Presents iOS 8 and new Mac Operating System

iOS 8 and new Mac Operating System: Apple has introduced new operating systems for its mobile devices (iOS 8) and the Mac computers (Yosemite). These presentation was made during the World Wide Developer conference (WWDC) on Monday in SAN FRANCISCO.  Many people expected that a new device would be launched but this time, its all about the software and software improvement.

One peculiar thing about Apple’s WWDC is that it challenges Android’s flexibility and still convincing that users wont have malware issues that plague the Android OS. Some of these new features have been available on Android for some time, Apple seem to do a better job this time around but all the same…  still call it ‘borrowing’ from Android.

The new Mac OS dubbed as Yosemite, features a streamlined toolbar and redesigned app icons while the iOS 8 has new features like smarter keyboard and new features for emails and text messages. One of the exciting feature of the new operating system is that they can now easily synchronize with each other. This enables great interaction between the mobile device and the PC for example you can begin to compose a message or email on your iPhone and continue where you left off on your Mac. It is also interesting to know that you can now receive phone calls on your Mac and iPad when the iPhone is ringing and not within reach.

This interaction remains automatic as long as devices are signed in to the same iCloud account. The company also said it was adding a new feature called iCloud Drive, which allows users to store files online and access them anywhere across different devices. This is an indication that Apple is trying to promote its cloud service to make compete with other services like DropBox, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.

The keyboard on the new iOS has been improved upon to make texting easier by including a predictive word suggestion to complete your statements. Responding to text messages has also been made a lot easy with the new interactive notification. When messages arrive, you don’t have to open the message app to respond, you simply swipe down from the top of the screen and it presents you the option to respond to the message

iOS 8 also allows iOS apps to communicate with each other, one app can now send and receive data from each other. Apple also announced a new health-monitoring app for iOS 8, HealthKit. The app stores  like a user’s footsteps, heart rate and sleep activity.

I know you would be wondering what kind version of the iPhone would be able to upgrade to the new OS, well iOS 8 is only compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Its tablet compatibility is limited to iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPAd Air, iPad mini and the iPad mini with Retina display.

You can check Apple’s official  website for further details about the new iOS 8 and Mac OS.
