Huawei unveils HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019

Huawei Technologies has unveiled HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019, the latest flagship Y series device. Huawei, the 2nd largest manufacturer of smartphones in the world, network solutions and providers in over 170 countries marked the launch of this device at an Exclusive Experience Meeting on Friday, the 1st of March 2019 in which TechCity was present. Used by a third of the world’s population, the launch of the HUAWEI Y7 Prime according to Huawei has reaffirmed its commitment to affordable and equally capable devices. To Huawei, price and performance are not two mutually exclusive concepts.

Huawei’s smartphone line is divided into:

1. P&Mate Series – Flagship products
2. nova series – Combination of tech and aesthetics
3. G&Y series – Combination of performance & price competitiveness.

Huawei reportedly shipped 200 million units of devices in 2018 alone and Consumer BG Revenue topped US$50 Billion. Consumer BG is one of Huawei’s three business units and covers smartphones, PC and tablets, Wearables and cloud services, etc.

1. Premium Design

a. HUAWEI Dewdrop Display

HUAWEI Dewdrop display includes a tiny pearl-shaped notch hence the name, which houses the front camera measuring 6.26-inches to maximize a massive 86.7 percent screen-to-TP ratio. Situated in the middle of the device, this is one of Huawei’s smallest notches to date; providing the maximum amount of screen to users.
Although this feature debuted with the flagship HUAWEI Mate 20 series, it is unavailable in its Y7 2018.

b. Premium Colored Ceramic Body

The HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 features a ceramic back plate that is treated with a poly carbonate coating for improved resilience against everyday wear and tear and to avoid body of device from heating up when held in hands when charging or in use as opposed to glass material.

c. Colours

As a device that targets youth, the HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 comes in three energetic and attractive colours: Aurora Blue, Midnight Black and Coral Red. These colours automatically determine the colour of the user interface on the phone with alternate options to choose from and download to make changes.

When the HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 is held horizontally, the back strongly resembles a digital camera which is a deliberate design choice made to associate the powerful camera module with dedicated cameras.

13MP + 2MP dual camera. The primary 13MP camera has a wide aperture of f/1.8 with 16 virtual f-stops (supporting f/1.8-6) to provide granular control over depth of field effects. Compared to its predecessor the HUAWEI Y7 2018, HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 can capture 50 percent more light information to produce clear nighttime photographs at high clarity and minimal noise artifacts.

c. Master AI

AI-powered real-time scene and object recognition technology can recognize 22 different categories of objects. These categories cover most objects and scenarios that today’s youth encounter in their adventures, including blue skies, people, dogs, beach and more.

d. Easy Hands-Free Shooting

The HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 supports two hands-free methods of triggering the camera: Gesture Control and Smile Recognition.

These come especially handy at times when the shutter button is out of reach – such as when the device is mounted on a selfie stick.

3. Outstanding Battery Life and Fast Charging

The new HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 houses a large 4000mAh Battery, providing more than one-day worth of usage even for the most intensive users. That means even if a user forgets to charge the device overnight, it will still let them get through the next day with minimal use.

a. Intelligent Battery Management System

HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 launches with EMUI 8.2. As Huawei’s custom Android-based operating system, EMUI promises a quality user experience that doesn’t decline over time. EMUI 8.2 features a handful of features that help extend the battery life of the device, including a Phone Manager that lets users optimize their device, as well as a smart app management system that runs in the background, regulating the processes.

b. Support for Fast-Charging

The cell inside the HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 retains at least 80 percent of its full capacity even after 700 recharges, which means the battery stays highly reliable even after two years of normal use. In addition, the battery supports 5V/2A fast charging, allowing for quick battery top-up.

4. Powerful Octa-Core Performance

HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core SoC. The 14mm SoC features eight ARM Cortex-A53 high efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz to deliver great multi-core performance at superb battery efficiency. It runs with an Adreno 506GPU with Vulkan support, delivering smooth performance in new top mobile titles.

Storage

The HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 supports expandable storage of up to 512GB via the microSD card slot. Together with the 32GB internal storage.

The HUAWEI Y7 Prime 2019 will go for a retail price of N59,900.
