X, formerly known as Twitter, is making it possible for content creators and influencers to earn on the platform. CEO Elon Musk announced a major revision to its ad revenue share program which was launched in July 2023. To earn from the program, you now have to have the following;
- At least 500 followers
- A personal subscription to X Blue or belong to Verified Organizations, and
- At least 15 million impressions on your posts within the last three months.
To get payouts of $50 and above, eligible creators need a Stripe account, X’s payment partner, and adhere to the Creator Subscriptions policies.
“We want X to be the best place on the internet to earn a living as a creator and this is our first step in rewarding you for your efforts,” a post by the official X account said.
The program allows verified users to earn money from ads displayed in replies to their posts. X is one of the few platforms that monetize replies, encouraging creators to post engaging and conversational content. X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, hailed the revised ad revenue share program as an “absolute game changer for our creators,”
According to a chart shared by Musk, X had reached a new high of 541.5 million monthly users in 2023, even after removing bots. X’s recent rebranding reflects its evolution from a microblogging site to a multifaceted platform offering various services and products.
Elon Musk, the owner of X, emphasized that the rebranding from Twitter to X was more than just a name change. He remarked, “This is not simply a company renaming itself, but doing the same thing. The Twitter name made sense when it was just 140-character messages going back and forth – like birds tweeting – but now you can post almost anything.”
