Google Duo is beginning to look and feel like Google Meet

Google Duo

Last month, we shared news of a coming merger between Google Meet and Google Duo video apps. Now we are noticing changes being made on Duo that make it feel a bit more like Google Meet. These changes might be stepping stones to an actual merger we expect to come soon.

Most of the features we notice are professional video conferencing features already available on Meet. It is important to note that these changes do not affect what was available on the application previously.

As we might know, Google Duo has been a video conferencing app for not-so-professional calls. Keeping things fun between friends and family, but now the app is getting professional features including

All the above features are and have been available on Google meet for some time. Having them come over to the Duo application shows that the adoption process has begun. In the coming months, we are sure to see more adoptions that will build the ground for the switch from Google Meet.

For those that use Goggle Meet alongside other core Google Workspace applications for your business, you might be wondering how this will affect you. We believe Google will inform its users about this. It should also make provisions for carrying over your data to its merged video call platform.

In the meantime, Google Meet will continue to function as it should. The Meet feature in Gmail will remain, as the merger will not affect it. Google also promises that these new features on its Duo application are free to access and use by all existing and new users.
