Gokada is venturing into boat business

Nigerian motorcycle hailing startup Gokada has its eyes on boat business and is working towards unveiling its boat business which will be known as GBoat.

“Coming to you sooner than you know! Beating the traffic and doing more with time spent in gridlocks just got more interesting. GBoat is here! Watch this space for more details on how to use this service,” Gokada stated.

According to media reports, the Boat services will be powered by Lagos Boats which rents boats at prices ranging between N50,000 and N100,000 hourly.

Gokada was in the news recently when it led a $5.3m Series A round in motorcycle on-demand company, Gokada.

Since GBoat may not be targeted at the mass public, several Nigerians expressed concerns about its survival in the Nigerian market.

“This is one is not targeted at the masses. I’m not saying it will fail but if you want to expand further, it should be targeted at the grassroots, because that’s where the money is. Gokada was a success because it offers relatively cheap and safe ride . N100,000 for a boat ride? Please think it through once again,” a reader said on Nairaland.
