Globacom had the highest number of new internet subscribers in February – NCC

Latest data released by the NCC over the weekend showed that Globacom had the most number of new internet subscribers in February, 2016.

According to the data, Globacom added 248,593 new internet subscribers to increase its total number of internet subscribers from 16,855,609 in January to 17,079,646 in February.

Airtel was the second gainer as its internet subscribers grew from 16,855,609 in January to 17,079,648 in February due to the addition of 224,037 new subscribers.

Both Etisalat and MTN lost internet subscribers in the month of February. Etisalat lost 52,251 internet subscribers causing its total number of internet subscribers to fall from 15,283,903 in January to 15,231,652 in February. MTN on the other hand lost 2,614,489 internet subscribers in February causing its total number of internet subscribers to fall from 38,218,859 internet users to 35,604,370 in February.

NCC’s data also showed that of the 93.75 million internet subscribers, 99.9% of them were on GSM networks (GLO, Airtel, MTN and Etisalat) while the remaining 0.1% were on the CDMA (Visaphone and Multi-Links).

It’s also important to note that according to previous NCC data, Globacom has consistently had the largest share of new internet subscribers added by all Nigerian telcos since last year.

With results like these I think Glo is doing something right with regards to its internet service or is it just their advertising that’s luring all these new internet subscribers their way? I’m not sure. But this one thing I’d recommend though, that you compare their data offerings with that of its competitors if you’re considering getting a mobile internet subscription provider or thinking of ditching your current provider.

Please feel free to tell me how it goes if you do.
