Fuel Scarcity: afro begs riders to bid higher

In a move aimed at ensuring its business is sustainable in the light of the fuel scarcity that has hit major cities across Nigeria, taxi hailing service, afro, today urged its users to bid higher to ensure that drivers accept their bids.

In an email sent to afro users, and gotten by TechCity, Chioma Anikpeh, Customer Care Representative at afro, suggested that the firm’s operations are being affected by the fuel shortage.

“Dear Customer, we implore you to kindly bid higher due to the current fuel situation as low bids may not be accepted. Help us serve you better,” she stated.

This development did not come as a surprise since the lingering fuel crisis has spread across the nation for several days. This is however the first time that an online company in a highly competitive market will be coming out openly to talk about the impact of the fuel scarcity on its operations and it suggests that other companies may be facing similar challenges but are downplaying the impacts  to avert bad publicity.
