Flutterwave suspends Barter to revamp its value proposition

Flutterwave, Africa’s leading fintech company, has announced that it is shutting down Barter, an e-wallet and e-payment service for making payments anywhere in the world.

“The decision to sunset Barter was based on a comprehensive analysis of market trends and evolving customer needs,” Flutterwave wrote in an email that was shared with TechCabal.

Customers of the fintech have been informed of the company’s decision to redesign the platform in order to increase usability and efficiency. In a blog post, Flutterwave revealed that “from February 1st 2023, Barter will be pausing some services to revamp its value proposition and ensure that its service is the best it can be.”

It stated that certain features including as the ability to sign up new users and transfer barter to barter, might not function properly during maintenance. The company, however, stated that customers will still be able to access their money and use it to pay for bills and airtime.
