Twitter CEO Elon Musk has unveiled a new artificial intelligence company called xAI. According to him, xAI was developed with a mission to “understand the true nature of the universe.”

News of this startup was initially reported by the Financial Times in April, along with reports that Musk had secured thousands of GPU processors from Nvidia, potentially to power a large language model.

Musk reportedly incorporated xAI in Nevada earlier this year, and while he had temporarily changed the name of Twitter to “X Corp,” some financial filings and website info clarify that xAI is separate from X Corp. The company highlights its intention to collaborate closely with Musk’s other businesses; X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies to make progress towards its mission.
