Earbuds by Doppler Labs: Customise how the world sounds around you!

Just imagine a world where you could determine the volume of the sounds around you- from the loud music blaring from your neighbour’s stereo, to all the generator sounds, horns blaring and even the voices of your colleagues who are likely speaking at the top of their voices, not realizing that they might be distracting you. Doppler Labs is set to make this happen with the new wireless earbuds.

The earbuds by Doppler Labs won’t block out all the natural noise neither is the organization planning to get pre-recorded sounds into your ears. Rather, they are availing you the opportunity to customize the sounds that are coming in. This is made possible using the Here smartphone app which uses a series of algorithms to modify certain frequencies as they enter your ears. The earbuds capture the incoming sound waves, process the audio in real-time, and play it in your ear without any perceptible delay.

One of the amazing features of this earbuds is within its music features which has two basic features- the equalizer and the sound effects. With the equalizer, you can change the bass, mids and trebles of a singer whilst at a concert to suit your hearing. And with the sound effects, you can add reverb, flange or echo to the music playing around you.

In a report on Business insider, Noah Kraft, the CEO of the company says, “We could have spent eight years in a lab doing this, but we didn’t want to do it in a vacuum.”

The first version of the product will be available only to the 2,855 backers who pledged over $635,000 in a recent Kickstarter campaign. Beyond the Kickstarter campaign, Doppler has raised funding from investors that include more traditional tech investors, along with the music powerhouses Live Nation Entertainment and Universal Music Group. This money will mostly go toward research and development, perfecting the hardware so Doppler’s vision can be fully realized.

Should this device be made available in the Nigerian market, it would go a long way to help a lot of people like me sleep in peace when neighbours with noisy generators have their generators on or get a solution to the drivers on the street of Lagos who just blare horns like a child playing with some baby toys. Honestly surviving on the street of Lagos requires this kind of earbuds.
