CES 2024 – Spatial Intelligence and Samsung SmartThings

Spatial Intelligence 

 Spatial AI  helps  devices understand the living space and routines of the user. It thus enabling a more personalized home management experience. 

Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, highlighted the following products and services at the CES 2024 press conference.

 SmartThings

SmartThings is an  open platform that can be compatible with mobile devices, home appliances, TVs and sensors for one seamless experience. It’s features can be accessed via;

  –     SmartThings Hub

·    SmartThings app

·    Various sensors and smart devices

 The more Samsung devices a customer uses, the smarter those devices become and the better they can understand and support daily life.

  •  SmartThings uses LiDAR9 on connected devices like robot vacuums to create digital floor plans. Users can thus easily check the status and location of all their devices
  • In  March, SmartThings will roll out the upgraded 3D Map View It will work for a more detailed experience on Samsung smartphones and TVs.
  • With a simple QR code , users can add family and friends to their SmartThings ecosystems.. That way,every member of the household can create their own routines.
  • SmartThings will be able to detect unusual circumstances, such as a fall. It will also send alerts to designated family and caregivers Using smart sensors and AI

 Galaxy SmartTag2  enables users to   track their pets’ activities and digitally store identifying information by attaching the tag to a collar or harness

  the Bixby voice assistant :

The Bixby voice assistant transforms smart homes into a  more dynamic  space with its enhanced AI capabilities. 

  • It can  automatically route commands to the most appropriate devices based on an understanding of the user’s location and activities. 
  • It  listens to commands with all the devices in a room but then only performs the requested action on the most relevant device. 

Samsung Daily service,

The TV, with the Samsung Daily service, becomes a central hub for smart home functionality. 

Its additional services include; 

  • video calls through ConnecTime, 
  • video veterinary consultation services
  •   Workout Tracker — through which workout data can be transferred to Samsung’s smart watches.

Samsung Now service

This feature displays useful information about users’ homes even when the TV is not on. 

 Details can be  the weather or a live security camera feed from a home security system .

Users can also access this information via voice command.
