Call for Applications : Thrive Academy for Agri-food startups

Thrive Academy has made a call for applications from agri-food tech startups into the 2024 acceleration program.

THRIVE Academy focuses on supporting idea stage and pre-seed stage startups in the agri-food tech sector.

The THRIVE Academy is a 12-week agri-food tech pre-accelerator program. Tailored for idea stage entrepreneurs, early-stage startups and researchers looking to commercialize their innovations, the academy’s  immersive program will help to de-risk and validate ideas.

It will also prepare startups for  capital raising “go to market strategy”  building.

The program will be in two phases;

Phase 1: Intensive

  • Six weeks of intensive programming
  • Build a foundation for high-growth companies
  • Market validation with corporate, farmer and grower network
  • Prepare to become market and investor ready

Phase 2: Mentorship

  • Implement learnings into ideas
  • Refine go-to-market strategy
  • Mentorship from THRIVE
  • Demo Day
  • Feedback for future steps

Benefits

Participants at THRIVE Academy will receive the tools and support to build a company foundation for scalable growth.

  • Acceleration: The program is to help kickstart startups’ entrepreneurial journey and accelerate rapid progress towards commercial outcomes.
  • Mentorship: participants will be mentored by industry insiders, corporates, alumni and investors.
  • Investment Readiness: Startups will receive fundamental knowledge of what founders need to be investment ready. This will ensure  high chances of success when  seeking outside funding.
  • Validation: An opportunity to test and validate ideas with professional assistance. Startups will be able to make fast informed decisions that minimizes risks.
  • Smart Farm Access: Participants have the opportunity to access Old’s College Smart Farm & other PSI’s to evaluate, demonstrate, and validate their developing technology.
  • Accelerator Opportunities: Selected startups will have the opportunity to graduate into THRIVE’s Canada or Global Accelerator programs.

Eligibility

According to the statement announcing the call, the academy seeks promising founders with innovative ideas.

Specifically, they are looking for:

  • Pre-seed – Seed Stage agrifood tech companies;
  • Researchers or university teams looking to commercialize a technology;
  • Early-stage innovators with groundbreaking ideas for agri-food tech.

The deadline for applications is January 12, 2024
